After an amazing two weeks catching up with my friends and family back home, I am back on the island! I was dying to try a new hike, so we decided to check out the Kuliouou Ridge Trail.

2.5 miles each way, it’s a pretty short trail. It starts out pretty easy, with lots of different terrain and a lot of cool views.

I love all of the different kinds of trees and views that we got to see.

Once you get closer to the top, it starts to get a little more difficult, with some steep stairways.

The last few flights of stairs are pretty rough. Just when you think you made it to the top, there are more stairs! But the view at the top makes it all worth it!

We had a little picnic up at the top before heading back down. From the top, you get some great views of Waimanalo and the windward side of the island. In the picture above, you can even see the Mokuluas, two small islands off of Kailua beach.

It was a great, moderately difficult hike, a great welcome back to this island.
