I mentioned in my coffee date post last week that a few of my friends threw me a shower a few weeks ago. We played some games, ate food, and went out for a great dinner after. Mostly it was great to see them and have a girls’ weekend, but they made the weekend extra special for baby girl and me.

All of my friends who came used to live in Hawaii. A bunch of my friends are still there. So my friends who threw the shower, K + K, asked all of my friends in Hawaii to send them books for baby girl. They put all of the books in a basket for me. Some of them wrote little messages in the books for her. I opened up all of their cards and books and it felt like they were there with me.

It was so special for so many reasons. They all know how much I love books and many of us used to be in a book club together.

A lot of the books were Hawaii-themed which I loved because I accidentally made everything in her little nook in our room Hawaii-themed. I hope that our daughter always feels a special connection to Hawaii. I can’t wait to bring her to Hawaii one day.

I’ve been scouring library book sales and used book stores to build up her library, but having these books hand-picked by my friends across the ocean for her was so special to me. One of my friends even wrote a book all about Hawaii and submarines, illustrated it, and had it printed for her!

How sweet! This is so fun. I had a book shower for one of my first showers with R, and it was so special to get all those books hand picked by people.
