My trip home was everything I wanted it to be. I spent a lot of time with my family and friends and hung out in my parents’ backyard. I took a few long drives out to the eastern end of the island with my family, but other than that, I tried not to do too much so I could just enjoy being home and being with my family. In my past trips home, I felt like I tried to pack too much in, and it ends up just being stressful and not as enjoyable.

I landed back in Hawaii last night and promptly fell asleep as soon as I got home. I had a perfect last day home with my mom. We pampered ourselves, went shopping, and had a great lunch. I bought some things that I desperately needed because I usually put off shopping until I see my mom. At night, I went out to dinner with my parents and brother, and then my brother and I went to our favorite cafe with his girlfriend. Then we stayed up late drinking beer and watching 30 Rock. This resulted in me only getting a few hours of sleep before my flight, but it was totally worth it. A few other things currently happening….

currently-1-2

Spending time with our friend Alan, who landed in Hawaii a few hours after I got home! I’m so excited that Nick and I will be able to spend a long weekend with him here in Hawaii. I haven’t seen him since last summer!

Feeling tired, happy, and loved. A trip home will do that, as will being reunited with Nick!

Drinking water. I have been drinking so much but I still feel so dried out from the plane.

Loving that Nick has an extra long weekend for Memorial Day.

Appreciating how thoughtful Nick is. I don’t know when he found the time for this, but he cleaned our cars and our apartment while he was away. It was so nice to come home to that.

Working on getting my New Zealand scrapbook going. I started getting some stuff for it while I was home. I still haven’t even gone through all of our pictures, but I am happy I’m at least starting to get on it.

Making a list of all of the things Nick and I still want to do in Hawaii before we move. I will share it soon!

Organizing all of the recipes I know how to make in one place, so that when it comes time to meal plan for the week, I can just look at my list of recipes and ingredients. So far it’s making life a lot easer.

Needing a new TV show to watch on Netflix. What are your current favorites? It can be anything!

Realizing how lucky I am to have such a great support system of my family and friends. It’s not always easy being so far from home, and military life is always complicated and unpredictable. But I am so thankful that everyone in my life supports Nick and me no matter where life takes us. Whether it’s a phone call, spending their vacation to visit us, or just knowing that they are there for us, I am so thankful for this support.

What are you up to this week?!

THANK YOU! I am so glad I didn’t get sick! And it was so great to spend some quality time with my family!

  2. Sounds like it was a perfect way to rejuvenate and catch up with family! Scrapbooking sounds like so much fun – I don’t think it’s really a big thing here in England as the first I’d really heard of it was when you wrote about it before but I just love the idea of a holiday scrapbook 🙂

Scrapbooking is so much fun! I like being able to look back at old pictures and ticket stubs. Sometimes I feel like it takes up so much time, but the end result it worth it. I started making them when Nick and I started dating. I love that now, we have 8 years worth of memories on our shelf!
